Facebook Helps Whitney Wreath To Honor Survivors
This past Christmas, David Whitney wanted to do something special with his breast cancer survivor celebration wreath, made by Whitney Wreath in Machias. So he used Facebook to start a cause and make a difference.
Using the social networking site, David encouraged people to join the cause to celebrate breast cancer survivors and for every 20 that did, he promised to deliver a special pink ribboned wreath just before Christmas to breast cancer survivors at the Cancer Care of Maine in Brewer.
Nearly 500 people joined the cause in just over 8 days and on Dec. 22nd, David made the trip and delivered on his promise, adding a few on his own, and brought 30 very special wreaths to cancer care patients.
It's an example of how new media can come together for positive and inspiring communication and action and Sutherland Weston is honored to have helped along the way.
